Implementation of Onpaku approach (Event approach for community activation)
Onpaku is an event approach for regional revitalization organized by local people and business people. It was born in Beppu city, Japan in 2001. This event approach contributes to sourcing locally available resources, introducing regional attractive points to the public and delivering new products to the market. Africa as a continent has lots of events, whose concept requires further clarification. Lack of follow up to these events, leads to loss of good business opportunities. Implementation of the Onpkau approach in Africa by local people could be challenging, but the approach is useful for OVOP implementing countries and regions to find local resources and provide business opportunities.
A&A supports the introduction of this Onpaku approach as an African style.
This is one of the OVOP groups which are carrying out cultivation of trout fish in ponds. This business is located near Mt. Kenya (more than 5000M), where a mountain stream of cold water is used before it released for use downstream. This group can be an effective partner for Onpaku because they provide hands on experience through taste-testing of trout dishes.
